Kibblefeeder: Addressing Lazy Pet Owner’s Feeding Obligations

Having a dog/cat around is awesome yet It is another mouth to feed. If you are a type of person who multitasks on everything, it can be a daunting task to keep track w/ the responsibility of taking care of your furry friend. A need to step up with the feeding process being automated should be the best solution. Now if you don’t have any electrical prowess, then perhaps a mechanical means should work. Introducing the Lazy Kibble Feeder (LKF).

The Problem

My dog’s name is girl. She is a smart and sweet canine who never fails to make me smile (and angry whenever she gets bitchy). For the time that I was based back home, I always had the problem of remembering to feed her. She survives yet I feel sorry for her at times when I cannot fulfil my role. My job entails me to come home late so i cant be consistent.

How can I feed my dog while I am out and cannot go home on time?

The problem went in full swing when I was tasked to stay over capital city for 1 week. I didn’t have anyone to look after her and she may very well starve. I had to do something to change the situation.

Hence, I was able to create an innovative way of replenishing the kibble. I created a feeder which utilises gravity and the mouth’s boundary rims to hold solid kibble by fusing a plastic food container to that of a plastic water pail. When I returned from the trip and saw that there were still kibble left on the feeder, I knew that this is a block buster idea waiting to happen.

Goal

I would like to be able to feel secure while I travel knowing that my dog has a supply of food which replenishes itself without the need for automation.

Overview

I needed to make a device which will automatically replenish the dog’s kibble bowl in a mechanical fashion.

Creative Direction

This portion defines all expectations that the CD wants. It is important that all team members get an idea of the CD’s vision in order to save time on input. With every expectation enumerated, it is important to set the expectation to encourage team members to ask questions if some points are vague. It is their responsibility to do this and it is important to let them keep that in their hearts. Every output made by team members must include the creative direction.
